BIOGRAPHY
The history of the band Abstract started to be written in 1995 by the idea of Peter L. and Palo G. to establish an instrumental metal band. On the underground it was something new and unknown back then. In 1996 the band recorded its first demo named „Instrumental Emotions“, which was one of the first instrumental records in Slovak underground. The demo was recorded by three former members: Peter L., Palo G, Ludo B. In 1998 the band recorded its second pure instrumental studio demo „Aestuum II. MCMXCVIII“. By its new formation with 5 musicians: Peter (guitar), Palo (solo guitar), Julo (bass guitar), Milos (keyboard), Ludo (drums). This demo met positive acclaims from critics and fans and Abstract  started to built their standing place on the metal scene of Slovakia, Czech republic and also abroad. At the end of the year 1998 they replaced drummer. Ludo left the band and Peter Gablik joined the band. The band has presented its new material in media at most of the central and west Europe throughout concert tour. Abstract´s  first tour in 1998 was in Slovakia and Czech Republic together with famous Czech band Locomotive and hard core Sweet Noise from Poland. This was later followed by the summer fests such as Gemer Rock Fest where the band performed together with the pioneers of gothic-doom metal Amorphis (Fin) and death-doom Darkside (Austria).

In 2000 the group in its final structure came to studio Exponent to record its first album named „Fragmenthea“. Even though the contract was signed for a CD, this material was produced only in limited edition as a promo for media and a small number of fans. Despite of this challenge the feedback from the metal audience had been very positive and Abstract has strenghten its position of instrumental underground in Slovak and Czech underground as well as the rest of Eastern Europe. The band introduced this new demo album at Jim Beam Rock fest and played some of its most successful concerts together with Hungarian progressive alternative instrumental band MASFEL and Finnish APOCALYPTICA. As a substantial of a promotion Abstract played concerts with other leaders of black- metal such as AGATHODAIMON (Ger) and progressive death black NEGLECTED FIELDS (Lat) and prepared its new mini CD material named Symmetry, that had been also recorded with the EXPONENT studio. By the end of 2002 with support of Feedback Promotion agency a new mini CD is issued. Following year the band makes its first time appearance at a great “Brutal Assault” fest in Czech Republic together with bands as Kataklysm, Malevolent Creation, Novembre, Hollenthon, etc. The year 2004 was very important for Abstract for two reasons - in the autumn they signed a contract with DawnArt Records for publishing the album “Fragmenthea”. This album was released a year later, following the Dawn of Spring Tour I together with bands Adultery and Return to Innocence. This tour involved 12 concerts in Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Besides the tour the band played other concerts throughout Slovakia and Czech Republic. At the turn of the years 2004-05 the group made its first videoclip for the song “Men of Knowledge” under the supervision of young talented director Kristina. With cooperation of Czech band Adultery and Polish band Deformed the second part of Dawn of Spring Tour II took place in spring 2005. This included 14 concerts in Czech Republic and Slovakia. On this tour the band played 3 gigs with Norish-Italian band Ancient and in summer the band appeared at the famous Czech fest Brutal Assault again.

2006-2007 the band composed new material. In September 2006 they came to studio to record album “The Pantomime of Neosolium”. In the beginning of  2007 the recording was completed and they were searching for a producer of this new material. In March they performed at Dawn of Spring Tour IV. together  with bands Adultery and Apocryphal. On a tour they have visited Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia and Czech Rep. After the tour the keyboard player Milos left the band and had been replaced by new keyboard player Freedom, who played first 3 concerts with the band in the beginning of  April in Czech Rep. In September 2007, the band the band toured in Russia, together with the band Dementor and Apocryphal(Belarus) where they played 8 concerts in the cities of Ryazan, Kursk, Penza, Stavropol, Sochi, Rostov on Done and Krasnodar. After the tour the band prepares its second album Patomime in Neosolium. In the years 2007 - 2008 also prepared the second clip for the song Niarain, directed by Rastislav Škrinár. In March 2008 the second official album is released by the Czech publisher Élysion music.

In spring 2009 the band participated at Slovak tour called Inquisition on the road to tour with bands Pyopoesy, Hecate, Pathology Stench and Brainscan. This tour visited the cities of Banska Bystrica, Kosice, Strazske, Poprad, Braislava and Nitra

After 10 years being with the band Abstract parted with its former drummer Peter G. The band welcomed its new drummer Martin "SLOSO" Slosiarik, who previously played with Zvolen(Slovakia) death metal band Disaster. At the moment the band is preparing new material that should be released in 2012-13.

The style of Abstract is somewhere between progressive, avantgard, atmospheric and dark metal, but the music also includes other shades of metal as gothic, black, doom, industrial, heavy… It doesn´t lack the drama, metal of prey as well as melancholy and natural folk fragments. All this with honest topics, inspiration from history, presence, future, nature and human relationships, that´s the basic feature of what´s named Abstract.
